THE HISTORY OF

Forest Park American Legion Post 414

The Forest Park American Post 414 had its cornerstone laid and opened their doors in the spring of 1921.

Post 414 is the oldest service organization in Forest Park and will be celebrating its 100th anniversary next spring.

The post was supported by members of the Armed Forces returning home from WW 1.

The who’s who of the community and of surrounding communities were involved in the building and funding of this historic building.

Over the years the American Legion Post 414 was the go-to place for weddings, christenings, birthdays, baby showers, and any celebration with endless political rallies.

Many of the members who are now retired say  they have found memories or the parties and the building.

In the 99 years of existence… Post 414 was rented to

the Famous and infamous from Arthur Murray Dance

Studio to a rumored Speakeasy.
